In every community, there are people sitting quietly in the pews who are carrying heavy burdens. Some are grieving, some are struggling with anxiety or depression, and some are silently navigating family conflict or addiction. For many, church is where they show up week after week, hoping to find comfort, but often pastors and congregations are not equipped with the tools to meet these deep emotional needs.
This is why Beacon of Light exists.
Beacon of Light is a nonprofit that equips churches with resources, training, and ongoing support so that faith communities can respond to mental health needs with compassion and confidence. Rather than sending people away when life feels overwhelming, Beacon of Light empowers pastors and church leaders to walk alongside them.
As a therapist, I see every day how much people long for safe spaces to be honest about their pain. That is why I serve on the Board of Directors for Beacon of Light. I believe deeply in their mission to bridge the gap between clinical expertise and faith-based support. When churches are resourced, they become places where people can bring their whole selves — body, mind, and spirit.
On September 18, communities across North Texas will join together in one of the largest days of charitable giving in the country. It is a time to invest in organizations that are doing meaningful, lasting work. For me, Beacon of Light is at the top of that list.
Your gift to Beacon of Light on North Texas Giving Day helps provide training for church leaders, resources for congregations, and ongoing support for those who are struggling in silence. Every dollar extends the reach of this mission and helps transform churches into true places of healing.
